The college is proud to share the news that the team won the Rookie of the Year Award and took 12th place overall! Randy Floresca said that as a first-year team they surprised everyone at the competition.

For the first time in the history of the college, the SJSU chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers International (SAEI) will be participating in the 2009 Formula SAE Student Design Competition held at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, from June 17-20.

Every year students at the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering demonstrate their passion and enthusiasm for engineering by entering national engineering collegiate contests, forming partnerships with industry and competing for scholarships.

On Friday, May 22, the college held its graduation ceremony in the SJSU Event Center. There were 1,081 graduates this semester, consisting of 385 undergraduates and 696 graduate students.

In the last six weeks of E10, Introduction to Engineering, students teams built and programmed a robot to perform an emergency rescue. The real-world application of this project is to simulate an industrial accident site, where toxic gas has leaked and a worker has become unconscious. The autonomous robot must be sent into the dangerous environment to turn off the gas leak and then save the unconscious person.
